A Smart Card is similar to a credit card in appearance with an embedded microchip on which data can be stored. Passengers can electronically top up their smart cards for a simple cashless method to pay for bus fares. Smart Cards are scanned on boarding the bus with the appropriate fare deducted from the amount on the card.
